What it does
Monitorul Local reads the decisions, agendas and minutes that Romanian city councils publish as PDFs, and turns each decision into a short brief in Romanian and English: what was decided, how the council voted, which organisations and streets are named and what it costs, with the official document linked alongside. It started with Brașov and now covers eight councils: Arad, Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Galați, Iași, Ploiești and Suceava.
Residents, journalists, local businesses and civic groups who want to know what their council decided without reading the source PDFs.
Features
- ·A plain-language brief for every decision: what it orders, the vote, the organisations named and the official text and document
- ·Sitting pages built from the published minutes, with agenda points, attendance and votes, linked to the official recording
- ·Strict grounding: figures are copied word for word from the act, never summed or rounded, and missing values are shown as missing
- ·Analysis pages, such as city budget revisions tracked decision by decision, and an index of organisations named across decisions
- ·Search across all councils by city, decision, street or institution, plus email alerts for new decisions
- ·Open data: a JSON file per decision with a fingerprint of the source document, free to reuse under CC BY 4.0
